Questions about Saunas & Hottubs:

A sauna is usually considered a detached outbuilding, which means that you generally need to apply for a permit. However, if the total area of all your detached outbuildings does not exceed 40 square meters, you usually do not need to apply for a permit.

The most important thing is to provide a solid base for your hot tub and/or sauna. The base for a hot tub should be solid and dry. The foundation to place the hot tub can be good solid rubble with a few wooden blocks underneath. The foundation can be a platform of wood or cast concrete. Do not place the hot tub on grass or soft ground, as vegetation under the tub traps moisture and can promote rotting.

Do not place the hot tub or sauna too close to buildings to avoid fire hazards. Ensure safety in and around the tub. Close the tub with a lid when not in use. Be mindful of slipperiness in freezing temperatures. Do not overheat the water in the tub; the water temperature in the hot tub should be between 37-40°C. Make sure the temperature is not too high for children. Wear protective gloves when operating heater as some parts may be hot during use.

The heating time for a hot tub is about 2-3 hours, depending on the outside temperature, the quality of the firewood and the proper heating method. To reduce the heating time, the hot tub should be well insulated. Stir the water regularly during heating. A sauna heats up in about 1-2 hours and only needs to be fired up twice before it can be used.

Use good quality dry wood, preferably in smaller pieces, for rapid heating. Low-quality wood or large pieces of wood can prolong heating time. You can adjust the intensity of wood burning by letting more air into the stove or reducing the air supply. Make sure you have a good fire to optimize heating time. Too small a fire will prolong heating time, while too strong a fire can increase the risk of damage or accidents.

Before use, clean the hot tub with soap and a soft cloth or sponge, and rinse with clean water. Do not use abrasives. The water in the hot tub stays good for 3-5 days, depending on the weather and hygiene. With a special filter system, the water stays clean and hygienic longer. Otherwise, change the water regularly. Be careful when using bathing chemicals as they can corrode the materials.

Consider the capacity of the hot tub, which can hold up to 1,500 liters of water. The water must be drained after use through a drain plug in the bottom of the hot tub, which can be connected to a 40 mm pipe to direct the water away. Make sure the drain plug is closed when the hot tub is not in use to prevent rainwater from getting in that may freeze.

The difference is mainly in heating time and temperature range. With an electric heater, you need a power connection and energy costs may be higher than with a wood-burning heater.

Do not start the fire until the hot tub is completely filled with water. Stoves should never be used when the tub is empty or not fully filled. Using the stove with a half-empty tub may result in damage to the stove.

The hot tub or sauna usually comes complete and does not require complicated installation. The outdoor heater is connected via hoses and clamps. If you choose complete placement/installation, the hot tub will be placed in its proper location by the driver. Electrical products must be installed by a qualified electrician.

Do not use our products if you are under the influence of alcohol or medication. Consult a doctor if you suffer from diabetes, heart problems or other conditions that affect your blood pressure. Leave the sauna or hot tub immediately if you feel sleepy or unwell, and cool off in fresh air. It is recommended that you drink plenty of water after using the sauna or hot tub.
